Don't freak out! This is obviously made in jest to keep the audience paying attention. Bio/clinical professors often make the comparison of pregnancy to a disease because so many adverse clinical sequelae result from it - but its always done to get a laugh. It is nerdy bio humor.

100% totally agree! Stefan this is just the humor they use in these courses. Absolutely certain that neither the professor nor the students believe a fetus is an actual parasite. The analogy is meant to draw parallels to true parasite biology to facilitate learning. Not serious!
