nah. one thing that resonates with me is that your dad shouldn't be your friend, he should be your dad. i feel very sad for people who talk about their parents like equals or friends like it's a positive.
Chatting with my daughter today about the idea that parents should be “best friends” with their kids, and she said: “No, they should be much closer than that.”

It weirds me out when women say that their mom is their best friend. My mom's favorite thing to say was, "it doesn't matter what you think. You're the kid. You're just along for the ride." There needs to be a happy medium between both of those options.
