Men will always fight to compete and dominate - in the free market, this drive is sublimated to serving the consumer, and the impetus to war is turned into massive progress. Take away the free market, and men will first fight pixels, then each other.

People have no purpose, ultimately because government says their purpose might offend somebody. So everyone is just left seeking purpose in fiction, and failing to find it in the past 40 years of corporate toilet-clogs they are left wandering like zombies.

"If you don't give a dog a job, it will come up with a bad job." Humans too, as evidenced by the past forty years. This is the time span that people refer to as "our generation," because we're not allowed to each have our own individual generations ever since then.

People complete their degrees, they fill out their applications, they work their slew of free hours "for experience" - and at some point they might even be compensated in some small way. But then red tape shuts down their employer for the benefit of 21st century aristocracy.

Do you believe that actual war, loss of life, leads to MASSIVE progress, or do you believe that the war of the free market allows for massive progress because "competition breeds excellence"?

War can lead to progress. It is massively inefficient compared to other means, which is why Stef is making this point.pic.twitter.com/EUlQasPX2b

We're in an age of transition from one which required fierce competition to one that requires broad cooperation for survival, which most civilizations eventually enter. We've never been able to make the transition because we're so practiced at competition. It's a thought habit.
