Do they regularly work overtime on the Notre Dame construction project? Didn’t the fire start after the end of the usual workday?

I work construction and have done historical renovation. There is absolutly no smoking allowed for obvious reasons

There were clearly three separate fires on the roof at the start. This was no construction accident.

Yes, Mgr Finot said it. Work stopped at 5 pm. Fire started 1h30 later. No worker was there.

Often that’s when a fire starts. The workers have left and are unaware that some equipment/tools are left on or chemicals like oily rags aren’t properly stored.
