I visited construction sites when I was in the business world - fire is a constant concern, and incredible precautions are taken. Imagine how careful people would be when working on a major historic and religious landmark. IMO, it’s either massive carelessness - or arson.

Fire is a "constant concern" everywhere at all times. Worked on construction sites for decades. Never saw a fire. The French are covering up.

I've been a builder all my life and there's only 2 reasons a construction site goes up in flames. 1. Arson 2. Plumbers soldering copper pipe.(rare & fire extinguishers are always in the area) Why would they be running pipe in a old church?

Very true Stefan. The contractors working would have to have impeccable records and the finest health and safety management systems to work on such a site. Every precaution possible would have to be implemented. European health and safety laws are the best in the world!

I'll argue with myself on this one. Historical restoration is HIGHLY specialized and EXPENSIVE. You can't just pick up some guys from home Depot

A private security firm would've been in place. Workers electronically tagged Everything photographed as it proceeded. On site historian and architect

Nobody randomly walked on to this site and started a fire. There are only two options and as per Occam's razor the simplest. Gross incompetence Or Arson Either way the guillotine must be employed for either one.
