In his devotion to the eternal, anti-empirical Forms, Plato was more of a theologian than a philosopher.

Socrates: And what is a Theologian? Molyneux: One who uses reason to comprehend the Divine. Socrates: And is Reason empirical? Molyneux: Naturally. Socrates: Even when reasoning about the Divine? Molyneux: By all means. Socrates: So he is a Philosopher? Molyneux: Indubitably.

Plato's recognition of Ideas, a word which has lost its original meaning, was not theology. And to call them "Forms" is confusing. Time, space, and causality are the Forms, which, as the rules to which all objective action conforms, give rise to empirical reality.

And it was in that devotion that he came closest to the ultimate Fact of the universe. He fell short of the concept of the unity of the forms and the characteristics such an entity would possess.

I’ve been really reading “The Republic” for the first time. The dialogue makes me think I’m getting trolled by translators because it sounds so current.

Philosophy is handmaiden of theology. And Nominalism is cancer cured by Aristotelian Platonism.

What? Do you think philosophy is only allowed to engage with empiricism? This is so monumentally stupid I'm not even sure what to say

A theologian is really just a philosopher with notes.

In his "The Republic" he's more a philosopherI It's surprising how that Republic looks more than a Socialist indoctrinated society than a modern republic.
