Plato's recognition of Ideas, a word which has lost its original meaning, was not theology. And to call them "Forms" is confusing. Time, space, and causality are the Forms, which, as the rules to which all objective action conforms, give rise to empirical reality.

And it was in that devotion that he came closest to the ultimate Fact of the universe. He fell short of the concept of the unity of the forms and the characteristics such an entity would possess.
