I really sympathize with the wretched childhoods they must have had. I wish they would deal with their trauma and return to the light of love and reason. I’ve talked to many people on my show about past pain, paid for therapy for some of them. If you want to talk, I am here.

Mom kept me away from my dad. It was a good decision now that I am an adult and realize how bad he actually is. She had awful taste in men. She realized it and gave up looking. She once even dated a Muslim...but it didn't last long. I'm lucky I didn't end up a radical leftist.
Many of us are. I am often looking back at my childhood and graeftul for how I got out with my spirit and body in tact.

I keep seeing meme's posted by single moms and remarried moms selling the superiority of step dads and live-in loves, saying they're choosing the kids whereas the biological father had no choice.
Most of the trauma I've heard of, at least for boys, came from female relatives. This is blunted by the presence of men. Granted I haven't done a study of it but I have spoken with a few hundred guys about it over the years.
Don't sympathise ..empathise. Take a one foot square of tin foil. Fold it once lovingly for every life milestone. Make the folds perpendicular to each other. Carefully unfold it. It's shiny, neat, structured. Try doing they same with a similar piece that you crush first.

I like how you mentioned both love and reason. I think it’s important to balance the rational with the emotional. Unfortunately, for people with a trauma background, the amygdala can take over at times, prompting an irrational and overly emotive response
