@nntaleb is not anti-science. He just measures risk differently.

Stef, he has a good point. Correlation is not symmetrical with IQ...meaning low IQ is pulling all the "correlational" weight. Everyone gets dumb when you hit them in the head with a hammer. Higher IQ correlation much weaker. It is an argument that can be engaged with.

Or could that be the anti-scientism warpath that he's on? If so, I'm on his side.

Calling someone “antiscience” is not a good argument. It is a favorite rhetorical theme of the partisans of Anthropomorphic Global Warming, as it was for Marxists before 1989.

What's the point here anyway? This shows that there's still parts of the world that suffer from being economically undeveloped. Should be obvious enough.

“That’s as far as they’ll likely ever get” is the same argument people have been using for these countries, and yet they keep growing and getting better economically.

This is a demonstrably false statement. What does “left to their own devices” mean? Many nations have completely instituted independence from destructive colonialism and are now thriving with their own inventions, investments, and educational benchmarks.
