It’s not high art to show a relentless series of horrors.https://twitter.com/thomasbsauer/status/1115688477885177858 …

What is and isn't "high art" is irrelevant. That movie made me feel the complete despair of the situation which is a rarity in film.

Are we talking the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's book? Because if so, it is a great movie about hope. The dad is different from themom, who commits suicide before the movie begins. The dad doesnt give up hope and the boy funds real people in the end. Carry the fire Stephan

My Dad tried to give me the book for Christmas. Afterwards he made us sit down for the movie. My mother and I were both staring at him 30 minutes in wondering why he was making us watch torture-porn. The book got traded in for store credit.

Exactly. It was depressing at beginning, middle, and end. No character growth. No arc. No climax. No mystery. Just depressing. Hemingway could be depressing but he also made you love his characters. And he had fun. This was only depressing.

But the film wasn’t about the horrors at all. I felt it was a symbolic depiction of present world n the diminishing sense of basic humanity. I’m surprised ur critical of the movie.
