Nah, it resulted in the clever psychopaths surviving and avoiding capture by making their murders look like suicide or accidents. Natural selection means we are now surrounded by very crafty psycopaths ... be afraid, be very afraid

Before anyone invented large prisons or organized metropolitan police, the penalty for most crimes was death. It was the ONLY way to deter rampant crime of all kinds.
