Sadly, slavery still exists...modern America’s slave class is generated, cultivated and perpetuated by the corporate prison system, in symbioses with a nisi prius/unconstitutional, and highly corruptible judicial system.

Ok, well , just because slavery has been part of humanity for 2000+ years, doesn't mean it has to continue that way. Just get rid of the criminlals in power, and we could all be ok.

Stefan, you said “No culture gained modern wealth through slavery” How can a culture gain wealth and why does it matter that the wealth is modern? Am I having a brain freeze or are you? Your entire tweet is ridiculous.

hoooo boy let me tell you about this contraption called the cotton gin and how slavery stopped it from ever being invented because if the cotton gin HAD been invented, and had greatly increased the incentive to hold slaves, that would really make your point look asinine

America had far less colonies. arguably if any, and during that same period had far more success, and prosperity than England. Which didn't have slavery, but lost vast investments in it's colonies. Milton Friedman has a lecture on this. Check it out.

In the English and their History by Robert Tombs it says it has been extensively studied and demonstrated that the British empire was a net loss. I think he says about 2%. Basically we put in more than we took out and the colonies gained in many ways from the experience.

"No culture gained modern wealth through slavery" The other day I did a back of the envelope calculation of the proportion of America's historical GDP created by slaves and it wasn't even one percent of one percent.

Sweat shops in Asia and mines in the Congo are forms of slavery. Don't forget the American prison system.

No, Stefan. The slave trade grew Europe. I suspect you must be mocking us when you say these absolutely false, & ludicrous things. Seriously. Wow.
