Twice as many white men died freeing the slaves - sold to whites by blacks btw - as the number of slaves brought to the US from Africa. Reparations for the soldiers.https://twitter.com/ave383/status/1105240489962496000 …

Blacks who built America are due reparations. You didn't make that statement when it came to Japanese,Jewish, former slave owners getting reparations. This is an american matter. If you want reparations from Muslims then deal with those nations not this one.

As more men were needed, however, the number of volunteers fell and both money bounties and forced conscription had to be turned to. Nevertheless, between April 1861 and April 1865, at least 2,128,948 men served in the Union Army, of whom the majority were volunteers.

All due respect to all involved. No one owes anyone anything. The sooner people realize this the sooner they can get on with their lives and make something of themselves. You don’t need reparations because you get to live in the richest country and you chose your destiny

Exactly. My 2nd Great Grandfather died serving in the Union Army in 1862. His wife died the next year, leaving my great grandmother an orphan at age 3. She led a short hard life. I think I am owed reparations.

He was a volunteer. The draft didn’t start until mid 1863. He was born in IL but settled in northwest AR before the war. Being a Union man, he joined up in early 1862. Three of his sons were drafted into the Confederate army. Two deserted and one of them joined the Union army.

The Civil War was NOT fought to end slavery, but to preserve the Union & POWER of the federal STATE!!https://twitter.com/rogerahicks/status/1008227827945213952 …

The state has always rewarded those who transfer their loyalty from own people (tribe/village/ethnic group/race) to the state, & punished those who don't. State contempt for white identity is therefor nothing new. @epkaufm @GoodwinMJ @DAaronovitch @David_Goodhart @RubinReport

That is true,. The slavery thing was just the moral justification for denying Southerners their independence.

Slavery was not very productive. The economy of the south was significantly smaller than the north.
