I will absolutely admit to that being my mindset when I was Left wing. Totally afraid that was useless, so I blamed capitalism on being "unfair". A profoundly cowardly mindset.
In my experience, most people who despise the free market are vainglorious. Due to an inflated sense of self-importance - “everyone gets a trophy!” - they hate and fear testing their value in the marketplace. If you think you have value, go market it. Find the truth.

You can see it in the frenzied screams of socialist types. It's fear of being useless projected at the system that exposes uselessness. They are afraid. They want the state to tell them "it's OK".
