BTW, imagine what US economic growth would look like if we had closed the borders 50 years ago. Significantly lower trajectory. Immigrant contributions to innovation and job creation are vast.

Would have improved by orders of magnitude. All of the billions spent on supporting immigrants would have A) not been taxed, or, B) been put toward something more useful - like infrastructure.
