It will benefit them in the short/long run. Paid apprentices, great benefits, good money, in-demand skills.

College was sold to us as the way for those of us who were always told we are smart and thus special to be raised out of the working class into the elite class that saves the world, cures disease, starts under water cities, serves human progress. All lies.

My son and daughter both do factory work. Non janitorial manual labor pays a lot more handsomely that a gender studies degree.

Their job is maintaining the mechanical aspects of the factory. There are still lots of things that robots don’t have the sensors or dexterity for. I doubt this will be a problem in the next 15 or twenty years, and by then they will be better trained for other ventures.
-
Besides, what they’re doing isn’t considered an entry level position, by any stretch. They get paid a living wage, as a result.

Graduate college and you are not special, you are not above normal people, working with elite geniuses, building martian cities, working in area 51, learning to decode Dolphin language. You are just dirt poor, in debt, and told to get a job, with no skills or experience.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with studying STEM subjects in college and university. These are vital fields for the economy. Just avoid arts, humanities and social sciences at all costs. But don't discourage the study of natural sciences, engineering, computing, etc.
