More government money will never solve poverty – all it does is buy more poor people. After World War 2, before the welfare state, poverty in America was declining by 1% every single year. The government was in grave danger of running out of poor dependants. So they fixed it.https://twitter.com/charliekirk11/status/1099152038712115200 …

Facts: Welfare costs taxpayers over $1 trillion per year. Over 1/3 of the U.S. population is enrolled in government welfare. Nearly 50% of those on welfare stay enrolled for at least 3 plus years And @BernieSanders & @AOC want to make government even bigger? 🤔

Plot twist: Capitalism can't solve poverty, because it creates poverty.

You can't talk averages to individuals. I live in a city where there are more abandoned homes than homeless people, and that's okay because there are less homeless people in the world than 100 years ago? How do yoi reconcile that?

Capitalism and socialism and all other ism’s require “faith” that the leaders in the charge will do right by the people. They don’t. At least with capitalism, you still have inalienable rights and the power to assemble, enacting change. Not so much with socialism

Poverty is where the money is. Read Tom Wolfe's Mau Mauing the Flak Catchers. Written in 1971 and not the least bit dated.

OTOH, going to university was reserved for careers that actually required such degrees, but there were plenty of solid jobs for people with high school educations. You didn't have people getting a "literal PhD in romantic comedy" or other such nonsense.

Wrong by definition, and if the welfare payments to each recipient increased so that there be convergence between the 20% lowest vs the average income there be strong reduction in poverty levels.
