I disagree. While outing communist was somehow necessary at the time, the methodology was against fundamental American ideals. Example: actors, writers and producer in Hollywood being blacklisted. Your political believes should not be used to deny the right to work.

You seriously don't know about it? Hollywood at large had a literal list of people that could not work for fear of government retaliation. Anyone outed as communist of that didn't collaborate by proportionating names was added to the list. It was sad an ironically unamerican.

I remember watching video of McCarthy speaking early in his political career. "I have here in my hand, documented evidence, that my opponent is a communist!" It was bullshit, but it worked. Maybe like a stopped clock, he was right once in a while. Not enough.
