Slavery was an economic institution that existed for the entire time of humanity. America from Jamestown to the 13th Amendment only existed for 270 years.

am I right in thinking that, on average, slaves was acquired by slaving the opponent tribe or country pow, disregarding the color difference? Roman slaves were sometimes of the same color, supposedly the egyptians who build the pyramids and so on...? Just a thought.

Dont forget the supposed "noble savage" in North America. They routinely took slaves, and measured their wealth on the number of slaves one owned. They also actively sought the extermination of other tribes (in some cases succeeding).

Don't tell Pingo slaves were sold into slavery by their own people, Muslims enslaved black people before hand, we ended slavery and the word slave comes from when white people were slaves!
