If racism is so bad, why are we born with in group preference for our own race?

Racism is bad because in todays world, judging individuals based on group averages isn’t very smart. Historically, it might indeed have been an evolutionary advantage to trust members of your own tribe preferentially.

That is, the modern world is more nuanced and individual differences make a bigger impact I would say.

The problem is academic. Psychology is a basketcase of idea's. Should be 'hard science' by now. Social science has overtaken academia and anything related to instinct and genetics is discounted fervently. New idea is'Generational Trauma' creating PTSD. Yet where is evidence?

Dude tribalism isn't genetics, it's evolutionary. Big difference.People tribalise within the same race, same accent, street, city, etc.If you're white, there's also tribalism among E. European with Italian with French.Civil war is tribalism among same race. Is it still genetics?

Genetics and evolution are entwined...read 'The selfish Gene' by Richard Dawkins...But Tribalism' yes, probably relates to social and personal psychologies (which is developed over the millions of years of homosapien evolution etc)

I've read most of Dawkins books. What you said about social and psychology development is true. That's different to what Stefan said where your race determined you tribalism as if others factors such as age, city, culture, language not affect tribalism.

I'm guessing @StefanMolyneux thinks this is a worthwhile point to make. It appears unlikely because he resembles an adult man, but I have no real other explanation.

It's not racism, but a genetic predisposition can exist and not mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I grew up in rural Nova Scotia With the 2 oldest black communities in Canada. In the 80's and 90's. We had tribal tension more than racial tension. We fought with rival communities white or black. Hard work always unites us.. fisherman loggermen all alike
