Very little reported crime. One has to remember that their culture is very deferential to authority and the police aren't looked at with as much scrutiny in western nations. Of arrests made for rape, only about half are ever prosecuted. Homicides are often called "suicides" etc.

Love Japan, Been many times for weeks. Never once felt threatened. Tokyo or small towns, clean, safe, reasonable people. It's largely genetic but the education is also very structured. My wife is naive Japanese & honest & respectful to a fault.

There are plenty of Japanese people here in the state of Parana, Brazil. In 26 years living here I've heard only of a single instance of crime commited by a Japanese person. And it was not even a violent crime, just something about illegal merch through Paraguay's borders.
