Oh yippee and thanks for bigotry of low expectations. I don't care if Western civilization came around to be anti-slavery 1st. Fact is West still carried it out on a brutal scale. Western trans-atlantic slave trade was on a level unforeseen, inexorably linked to 18thC capitalism

When will they be redeemed? Or are we going to just keep holding the transgressions of western civilisation over their heads as a trump card whenever its convenient for our motives learn to forgive and move on for gods sake

It's not about moving on or not. Have no hate or anger towards any whites or anyone. The point is claiming birth right for descendants of slaves from the US government which owes a debt of compensation. A legal obligation exists.

No they won't. US needs to set up a Commission to look into paying reparations compensation owed for black Americans in some means up to a certain value. Either certain Federal land asset forfeiture in a Trust for benefit of descendants of slaves or exemption from future taxes.

Consider this, abolition could have been supported by 100% and moved swiftly. No war at all. Nothing would be different now. The war didn't change the fact that a disproportionate number of males were just tossed into society with no skills and no real prospects.

There were not enough women to satiate the men. There wasn't enough work to occupy them. All the love in the world, every person in the country dedicating all their energy could not have undone a thousand years of history. The same problem exists now. The same answer too.

Integration is a centuries long project. We must begin to accept and understand this problem is greater than us and cannot be solved by us. It will continue after all that currently live have died. We must begin to think on very long timelines. Understand what effort means.
