why is employment rate and participation so important but not quality of life. wouldnt it be better if we cut some of the work force to fix the unemploymentrate and started families instead. less workers= better wages. so many bullshit jobs exist to meet quotas.

Yes. https://www.pnas.org/content/114/5/e727 … "we show that individuals with high scores tend to have fewer children, mainly because they have children later in life." This is educational attainment, of course, rather than labor force participation but the same principle still holds.
