if the mother's mental health is an issue, how can she be expected to make a rational decision regarding whether or not someone lives or dies (in this case her baby)

If she can carry her child for 9 months she can deliver her child. Then put up for adoption.

There isn't and I'll tell you why. THE ONLY way to perform an abortion in the 3rd trimester is by inducing labor first. It is medically SAFER to deliver the baby, then to kill the baby prior to delivering. That's why the baby is simply ripped limb by limb in this stage, aka D&E.

The mental illness will occur after the woman has that abortion and starts thinking about what she did... it never goes completely away.

When my mom was pregnant with me the Dr. told them that I was going to either be still-born or wouldn't live long outside the womb. They chose to go forward with the pregnancy as if I was going to be ok instead of aborting me. Now, 25 years later, I'm still alive and well.

I would think she would live with more guilt for murder than she would for giving up the baby for adoption. Just saying!
