It seems society is really focused on death lately. Is this a subconscious result of people feeling the death of our society is looming closer and closer?

#AgeOfDecadence Whatever makes passing into the abyss a little easier I guess. I for one, will fight for life, and will do our best to make sure my kids are there to rebuild. -
Beautiful statement!

Agree totally regarding abortion, but it got me thinking... What are your views on euthanasia? It's not a violation of the non-aggression principle if someone who is in agony with a terminal illness chooses to end their suffering, but at the same time, it is ending a human life?
-
There is a very big difference between doing it to yourself and someone else doing it to you.
-
Of course - abortion is a clear violation of the non-aggression principle, but euthanasia is a does not violate this principle, so I was interested in Stef's views.
-
Absent a suitable advanced directive, it is a violation of the NAP.

It's not quite so liberating when it's you that's being put in the bin.

Killing the old is their ultimate goal. Too expensive to keep them going. No longer adding/producing to society. Seen as zero ROI.

Reminds me of a Star Trek TNG episode where seniors are forced to kill themselves at 60 so they wont be a burden on younger folks (the old man played by David Ogden Stiers, aka Winchester from MASH)

It will get to a stage when anyone who has conservative opinions will be sent to re-education camps. Stalin sent soviet soldiers to camps who he felt had been contaminated by having contact with American Soldiers.

It's one thing if an old person decides that being bedridden and sick isn't worth the bother. . . it's another thing entirely for someone else to decide for them. Bad precedent, indeed.

We’ve taken care of this one already in Canada, euthanasia. Even for kids.

Even the nicest, most capable & considerate people can become demanding and selfish as they 'rage against the dying of the light'. "Where's dinner? It's 6pm, where were you?" This will be all of us to some degree if we live long enough. Don't ever think it can't be you too.

Pity they dont put themselves in the shoes of the elderly and then say that, especially as you said, they are going to get old themselves eventually
