Do a little research on the #Detroit water and sewerage system and you'll find that some of the pipes still in use were laid down better than a century ago. Message @fbtalk. The whole system needs to be replaced and the cost will run around $24 billion. It's mind-blowing.

But the water and sewerage system is old everywhere. Modernization is very expensive and laborious, so new pipes are only in some section, where there was a malfunction.

If memory serves, the #Detroit water system is losing more than 30% of the water it extracts from the Detroit River, treats, and pumps out to its users in the city and the surrounding suburbs. This is highly inefficient and wasteful of both water and energy--overhaul needed now!

Oh yeah, it's a very ineffective system. I agree with you. But modernization some conduit is not easy. It has needed a perfect project and there are plenty of things that could be repaired within that too. I think it would cause a major traffic collapse.
