Not in the "developing world" where I live. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't with more people on social grants than tax payers and massive looting by the ANC we are sinking in crap. No taxes no hope. I do agree it's the only way to reduce government's power.

The point is that the service cannot be provided to all communities. FDA, cops, infrastructure, disaster relief, etc. require billions of dollars that will not be available on a local/state level. Donations and privatization won't be near enough to pick up that kind of slack.
