We in the West need to wake the hell up. We have refugee policies to “help the desperate” - and can’t imagine that people could be so coldhearted as to fake being refugees to live off our taxes. They do. Our kindness is being weaponized against us. WAKE UP!

I agree - there are 'economic migrants', not refugees, but how do you address the charge that Western powers have contributed to the de-stabilization of the Middle East (esp Libya), through disastrous intervention and opened the flood gates to a wave of migration through Europe

These countries were part of the Ottoman Empire, known as the Sick Man of Europe, where at the end of WW1, 80% of people over 5 years of age, were illiterate compared with about 5% in Canada. These countries never functioned well historically.

Actually Libya had a literacy rate of >90% and one of the lowest child mortality rates in the world until "we" (I.E Obama, Cameron & Sarkozy) decided to stage a coup there.

It looks as if they didn't need an Arab Spring.

Given the stability of Libya prior to the western engineered revolt and the total anarchy now; I would suggest they definitely did not need the Arab Spring- particularly as Gaddafi was already planning to step down.

There's a bigger picture going on. Why is it mostly fighting age men leaving their homelands for the west? How has that been engineered? The consequence is countries left with few fighting age men left to defend them...

They need the best and brightest, and if what so many are saying is true and they are coming to America, that only leaves the countries they leave at a disadvantage. They should be staying to better their countries.

That's not what I'm thinking. More so, ripe for the spoils of war. Besides, what we see coming into Europe eg widespread rape & torture gangs, is it really their best & brightest? Our continents are under attack whilst leaving other geolocations ripe for taking over... Bigger pic

I agree, we must help ourselves before helping someone else. What good does it make to take thousands of poor, if we had tens of thousands of poor among our own citizens? I mean look at Van's Downtown ESide. Poverty only grows, government's addressing wrong issues in a wrong way.
