I just read the article. It is heartbreaking. Our click-bait culture and social justice warrior bullshit condemned a brilliant man with out and out lies. Where does it end?

when the authors of hit piece/click bait articles like the original one start to pay the price, one way or another, for writing these hyperbolic articles just need a handful of 'journalists' to pay and people would think twice before writing virtue signalling garbage articles

Let me get this straight: the man who wanted to replace every living thing with ersatz replicas a la Blade Runner committed suicide at the first sign of bad press. Certainly other people would have leveled stronger critiques down the line. You can't put this on mean feminists.

I feel very strongly that I need to start a non-profit type organization catered solely to intelligent youth. How we treat our geniuses is terrible.

Wait, this guy was able to make vaginas smell like peaches and somebody had a problem with that? He deserved a nobel prize. That’s change i can believe in.

Austen reminds me of genius outlier Aaron Swartz: two men capable of radical thinking that pushes the boundaries of science & technology, yet they can't create the emotional health needed to survive in the world they are changing. Is a kinder, gentler society even possible now?

heartbreaking, so the human mind who conceptualized the potential to modify DNA so that "if you had or developed cancer, the aroma of say your urine would change as an early warning to treatment" gets doxxed by a bunch of juvenile delinquents afraid that their shit stinks

Incredible read and great writing by the author. It's an all too common story with men feeling hopeless.

and it was very popular at some point.

I'm 10000% sure that if product was complete and safe to use it would find customers.

A real journalist should track down the people who wrote the huffpo, inc, daily mail, slate, salon etc articles and shame them good and hard. Their names need to be spread far and wide. They think their job is to destroy people's lives. A little sauce for the gander seems fair.

Terribly loss and media to blame proving his point that they aren't that smart and are not nice people at times. What a loss to humanity and the future.

We live in a world where conspiracy theorists can instigate violent attacks against pizza-places. Where LGBTQ+ ppl are constantly demonized by the right-wing for *existing*. Free speech is always the excuse - and like it or not, this is also a potential consequence.
