It’s selfish to not create for the others the life you love that your parents created for you. Life. Pay it forward.https://twitter.com/no_eyed_ryan/status/1090143811752275968 …

It’s somehow selfish to not give your time and energy to someone who literally doesn’t exist unless you make them exist? Lol dumb. Let people live their lives how they want.

If everyone in a chain pays something forward except you and the chain stops, that’s not selfish?

Those who want to pay it forward can do so. Those who don’t want to can NOT do so. Everyone can do what they WANT to do, and no one is more selfish than anyone else for doing what they want.

Moral relativism = no morality at all. Suppose you receive an heirloom passed down 10 generations. Everyone before you has taken excellent care of it. Then you pawn it. There’s no difference between the behaviour of its previous owners and your behaviour?

My statement is not moral relativistic, I respect freedom of choice, and holds that pushing ppl to make personal choices they don’t want to do, is immoral. I’m not a moral relativist; I’m stating that *your* attempts at pushing choices on ppl is, in fact, immoral.

If everyone did what they did because they wanted to, and I did the same - then no. If someone was forced to take care of it bc of social/family pressure, my sympathies - my actions guarantee that won’t happen again. No more forced caretaking for anyone.

It will be the hardest thing I'll ever do in my life I know it. Trust a woman after current year (and my relationships) enough to marry. I don't feel ready, like so many dudes in so many countries. We need to at least balance the laws a *little* first right?

It is just a guilt trip to lay on men to get them into a situation where they lose all power and can literally be robbed by women via the government under the guise of doing what is best for society.

Creating a new life because you want to is the epitome of selfishness! At least try to be honest, sir.

But isn't it selfish to procreate in the absence of love: 1) just because everyone else is doing it and you don't want to be left on the shelf? Or 2) for the purpose of leaving a genetic legacy, as a means of achieving immortality?

It's selfish to procreate just because one feels lonely and doesn't want to die alone. No one has the right to play Russian roulette with other life (the unborn life). No life of any kind at all in every multiverse is the best situation.

The moment I think I can give a life at least as good as my parents gave me is when I think it can be argued to be "selfish". Otherwise, I don't think that's very strong.

It’s also foolish to assume taking the pedal off the metal (social pressure for child bearing) and birth rates will remain constant.

To be fair, some people's childhood and lives are horrible, and not having kids can spare others their experiences. However, they are in a unique position to know first hand what they do not wish a child to go through.
