Flawed phenotype is specific to the environmental pressures on the organism. Those can change dramatically. Regardless, everyone alive has decided that existence is preferable to non-existence

Yes, but it's gotten more complicated nowadays, has it not?

By design.

Your experience is anecdotal. Destroys souls is not an argument. The data show that close to 50% of marriages end in divorce. That men post divorce are at 10x the risk of suicide. If you want to see a destroyed man you need look no further than those who have been divorced.

The selfish gene only cares about its own replication, it doesn't care about the well being of each individual carrier vehicle. Why sould we care about billions of years of evolution?

So true. Children and grandchildren enhance one's final years. Flowers in a desert.

Ok but this doesn't mesh well with your stance that the population boom in Africa is a bad thing.
-
Uncontrollable, irresponsible breeding is the problem and obvious distinction here. "Avoiding the genetic dead end road" doesn't automatically imply a need to reproduce like a horny rabbit when you can barely even afford to feed yourself.

I appreciate thar view. If the option is there yes I'd support it. However medical conditions that are hereditary or may be certainly play a factor in any decisions. Would you consider it ethical ti have kids if you knew you'd likely pass on some life long condition?
-
BTW this isn't a but this one thing of special circumstances disproves the rule. Just actually wondering. As in my case being on the Autism sprectrum the question is in my mind. Is it right to knowingly take the risk of passing that on to kids who have no choice?
-
Doesn't seem so to me. Thanks for your insightful work Stefan. Been following a few years now and find great value in your work.
