Staying single has been a survival mechanism. I absolutely am terrified of having kids, having a vindictive unaware woman play those games on me so many single dads have had to deal with. The thought of having a happy family life is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Fuel

Beggars can't be choosers. Life itself, currently, is not much of a living. Its been surviving. If i could tell you more I would. Timing is everything and now is not the time. Ive always remained open, watching and waiting but the circumstances are not conducive to anything good.

Pretending? I genuinely don't like kids and don't ever want them. Does that make me bad? For the record, I support a lot of what you say, but isn't there such a thing as making an informed and sane choice to not get married? What if freedom is more important to the individual?

DNA evidence shows that only 40% of males throughout human genetic history reproduced successfully, where as 80% of women did. From an evolutionary perspective not having kids is perfectly normal for men. If your married friends neglect you, get better (single) friends.
