your definition of free will requires an origin of free will. if you define free will but say its a chemical reqction in the brain then the definition becomes unimportant. that means its deterministic, not free will unless you play the semantics game of words and subjective defin

Some people don't want to believe in free will because if everything is predetermined then they don't have to accept responsibility for their actions.

I have discussed this with a few highly educated guys I know. A few of them said that if determinism is true then life is not worth living.

My def, adaptive, via negativa: Free will is everything we can’t yet explain scientifically about our decisions. Technically everything is deterministic, but it doesn’t make much practical sense. You can’t simplify chaotic, emergent, complex system to make predictions.
