my argument, again, is that stef has an illogical explaination for free will. he needs that free will argument for his upb. free will/consciousness "arises" in the brain, thats not a biological explaination, thats a metaphysical one. his response to that leads to more arguments

your definition of free will requires an origin of free will. if you define free will but say its a chemical reqction in the brain then the definition becomes unimportant. that means its deterministic, not free will unless you play the semantics game of words and subjective defin

i know free will exists but its not created by the ego or the brain. its expressed through these mediums.

asking where free will comes from is like asking where you come from (and i dont mean your body or brain or geneology). i cant tell you where it stems from for you, thats your answer, for you. some say they're just biology, well thats what they are then because they choose that

From a Calvinist perspective. Your will is free to do whatever you want, you just don't want anything but sin.

Some people don't want to believe in free will because if everything is predetermined then they don't have to accept responsibility for their actions.

I have discussed this with a few highly educated guys I know. A few of them said that if determinism is true then life is not worth living.

My def, adaptive, via negativa: Free will is everything we can’t yet explain scientifically about our decisions. Technically everything is deterministic, but it doesn’t make much practical sense. You can’t simplify chaotic, emergent, complex system to make predictions.
