My grandmother was FORCED AND ABUSED by the Nuns at Indian boarding school, she was the face of cultural genocide & it's after effects. She lost part of her soul by that and my family is still feeling the ripples from that today. We may have integrated into the modern world but

Are the two mutually exclusive? I personally know a very successful Canadian Chief who attended a "white man's" University and went back to the reserve he grew up in and used the education he got to enrich life for everyone. Being insular is sometimes...oftentimes...self imposed.
