Genes are important, but correlation should not be conflated for causation. It's systemic... simple in principle, complicated in the detail. Dumbing this down and masquerading it as science is not doing anyone any favors.

There's plenty. We know genes change over time. Check out Rupert Shaldrake's study on morphogenetic fields, for example. And it seems to me logical. Computers are our closest inorganic analogues, and the way you optimize their hardware (DNA) is through software (environment).

Sure, environment can ‘bring out’ the best or worst in a humans genes but the limits are basically hardwired. A kid with X (say 50%) out of Y (100%) genes for intelligence may or may not reach their potential depending on environment. Your max IQ is non-environmental and set.

No no no. We like "settled science" when it predicts facts about what the future climate might be like. We don't like science when it interprets measurable facts currently at hand. See? Totally different things.

Unlike gender, which apparently is, according to a goon I heard on bbc radio last month, claiming "We have our gender assigned to us by the person who fills in our birth certificate". Seriously.

We've known this from the ancients. We just destroyed the succession of wisdom with these splinterred families. It's exactly like these studies that point out going on a hike can relieve depression. We've lost our sense of place in history. We must learn these hard lessons again

Stefan, here's a great test for some of your haters. They use this 50-80% as an argument that genetics isn't an end all, but at the same time they reject that I.Q. tests(IQ tests this research relies on...) can be used for anything meaningful... That's how disingenuous they are.

If everything were a social construct, wouldn't that mean that everything they believe could only ever be proposed analytically a priori? So all of reality would just be a product of language (nothing synthetic). This makes sense of how 'gender' means literally anything now.
