Is there a breakdown? How many partners is the threshold? 2, 5, 10, 20?

Having access to more sexual partners makes a difference for both sexes. People who live and marry in rural areas tend to have stronger marriages simply because the temptation to go elsewhere is low. Managing distractions is very important.

What about men? Where is the research on that?
-
Or we could focus on women for a moment
-
I'm not disagreeing! (I am against sex before marriage for anyone) I just have always been genuinely interested in the research on the numbers with men because I haven't been able to find them. It mostly is about women.
-
That would be interesting. My guess is that it really do have a similar effect, but it is less pronounced. Women are much more sensible to hormonal and neurochemical changes. Many chaotic unbalances from random sexual experiences affects the more emotional driven women.
-
With that I leave a friendly reminder: There's no such thing as 'casual sex'
-
There is this idea that men are not naturally monogamous and that women are, so maybe that's where the lack of research comes from? I don't know. It bothers me a lot because I think that God requires both sexes to honor our bodies and marriage.
-
While I see where you are coming from, I don't believe that is the sole or predominant explanation. From an evolutionary perspective, once humans start to settle, there was an incentive to pair up and care for/protect YOUR children, not others.
-
Evolutionary pressures saw this as positive and selected those who practiced monogamous families because they could survive winters more easily. After years upon years, humans adopted pretty much a k reproductive strategy, laying our r genes dormant

I was raised Roman Catholic. However, I am not against sex b4 marriage. It is an important part of the partnership. Much information to be gleaned by all involved. Just my $.02

Funny how people think you're some sort of bigot for not wanting a crazy party girl to settle down, saying it is "a super selective filter". Sure it is, but for the right reasons

I would say that's dependent on the character and personal viewpoints of the woman. Of course there's plenty of confirmation bias to go around.

What does this even mean? I feel like I can tell from your tone that you are ascribing one particular meaning to it, when many are possible. Perhaps I'm wrong, maybe you are just highlighting points of interest.
