Twin studies have shown that intelligence is 80% genetic by our late teens. You can’t get around that basic fact.https://twitter.com/LaeliusGaius/status/1086742146202271745 …

No. You're assuming I'm equating the too. What I'm actually saying is intelligence is influenced by education, experience, and environment. Which is why a 5 y.o. has a lower IQ than a 50 y.o. Your argument is the differnece is genetic, my argument is the difference is education

@LaeliusGaius Heritability is not a measure of how genetic a trait is. It is the proportion of variation in a trait that can be accounted by genetic variation in a population in a specific environment. Not the same. http://psych.colorado.edu/~carey/pdffiles/heritability_vissher.pdf … (Box 2)

How would you measure a specific environment across a given population? Even identical twins have dramatically different life experiences and develop their own ways of thinking. It's rank psycholgizing

Stefan Molyneux misunderstand heritability by thinking it's a measure of how genetic a trait is. Easy counterexample: five fingers on each hand is strongly genetic, but variation in number of fingers is largely due to variation in accidents, so heritability is low.

I would agree. Cognitive abilities and genetics are so complex, making assumptions based on twin studies is ludicrous

"Francis Galton is the first person to use twin studies as a methodology to seek the heritable components of human behavior. Galton also coined the term “eugenics"." Twin studies are not an acceptable basis to infer genetic caused behaviour differences across populations

Contained in a seed is a genetic code; good soil, sunshine and water allow that seed to reach its full potential as a plant. With people intelligence is the genetic code and education is the nourishment to allow that intelligence to reach its full potential.

I miss your videos Stefan, you haven't uploaded any in a couple days. I especially like the 2+ hour ones where you just talk the whole time with no guests. I listen to you while I do programming and it helps me concentrate better.
