Education has very little effect on intelligence, look it uphttps://twitter.com/LaeliusGaius/status/1086696328829095936 …

Intelligence is developed through education. You can't just have smart parents, sit back and expect intelligence to come to you. Intelligence is achieved, height is completely pre-determined. You can't develop your height or prevent cystic fibrosis. Apples and oranges, bud!

This reminds me of trying to read my books in class. Or the time my chemistry teacher asked me if I thought I was smarter than the rest of the class. He taught the same problem 3 days in a row. Apparently it was bad I got it on the first day.

I believe much of the current education system is intentionally trying to reduce intelligence.

Not sure about the aggregate, but Engineering school has definitely increased my intelligence. Learning to program and learning increasingly complex levels of mathematics teaches you how to think and recognize patterns. This transfers to better performance on tests (IQ, SAT, etc)

There’s certain things, like hands-on labs you can’t learn effectively in books. Which I had to be in constantly. Really helps expand your visual-spatial abilities.

Software development is easy to do at home. I’ve done it. It just requires a computer and storage. Creating a miniature solid rocket booster with hard-to-get chemicals and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment is not so easy to do at home.

Elon Musk has a degree in Physics and Economics. He dropped out of GRAD school to start Paypal. There are just certain opportunities college offered me that I would not have been able to acquire myself. (Tools, equipment, trips, etc)

If @LaeliusGaius were to look it up and discover that you are correct, he would become educated. But probably not more intelligent.

Based on data from more than 600,000 participants, all told, psychologists Stuart Ritchieand Elliot Tucker-Drob have arrived at a rough estimate of how much an added year of education lifted participants’ IQ scores, on average: between 1 and 5 points.https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/brainstorm/201806/how-much-does-education-really-boost-intelligence …

Not sure if I agree. Some of the brightest minds, I know, came from poverty and/or broken, alcoholic homes. I’m thinking you’ve either got it, or you don’t.

Hello Mr. Molynuex I hope your day is going well. Many of your insights are logically valid and insightful. Thank you! I am curious would you say ethical healthy habits and behaviors bloom intelligence or not so much. I’d sincerely appreciate your perspective on this idea!!
