Sadly, most countries, even European ones, have huge governments. There are only a tiny number of countries without huge governments these days. Like maybe Singapore and Switzerland. Can't think of many others.
-
Singapore has tiny government on a tiny island. It’s not small compare to size of country.

20% of GDP is government in Singapore. https://www.statista.com/statistics/379453/ratio-of-government-expenditure-to-gross-domestic-product-gdp-in-singapore/ … 36% of GDP is government in USA. https://www.statista.com/statistics/268356/ratio-of-government-expenditure-to-gross-domestic-product-gdp-in-the-united-states/ …

Simple comparison of numbers don’t necessarily tell the truth. In this case, 20% is too high for a small population. Meanwhile, look at penetration of regulations into daily life. I think Singapore is more blunt and careless of how much daily life government can have a say.
-
These are percents, so they adjust for population already.
-
Smaller population should incur lower cost of governing. Meanwhile, they don’t have much of a military force...

Some people think that the problem is the country, not the government.
-
Meaning what? Something to think about BEFORE you answer... If America is so awful...WHY do so many people want to live here? (...and why haven't the so-called celebrities who threatened to move out of our country, not moved yet?)

-
I agree with you. But do not think that America can't be destroyed by a bad government, just as my country, Brazil, was destroyed by the workers party.
