Anyway, the answer is, their mothers tell them never to depend on men and have something to fall back on. At least every woman of my generation. Our mothers undervalued motherhood and overvalued wage labor.

Yeah, i never got that. Here put your marriage at risk to get something to fall back on if the marriage ends. Its a self fullfilling prophecy. What's worse all the ladies who ruin their marriages to have another option think to themselves "how smart I was" not understanding.

Having a fallback is not a terrible idea. Insinuating men are not to be trusted and hence the fallback - really, really bad message.

Oh my god, seriously? Women are being given preferential treatment over men. It has got nothing to do with being smarter than men. Besides, I've seen women in college careers; most of them suck. Not all, most of them because they didn't take education seriously.
