Well, she has the ability to be nice theoretically, but she's driven by emotions, and they over-ride her intellect like a semi-truck over a bunny. She's totally ruled by, and a slave to, her emotions. She can't help it - I can tell. So I have huge compassion & pity for her now.

In my experience people often confuse the idea of a "parent" with the reality of the individual. They can't seem to disconnect the construct with the person. There is a difference between respecting a title & the person holding the title.
