Eh tossing capitalism at the end made it a false equivalency. Remember the US had an extremely healthy and high quality of living, and were capitalist. What you need to critique is "corporatism"/(((globalism))) and their ability to buy out/lobby the government itself.
Nationalism is based on a race of people with the same culture, language, religion..ect See Nation (via natus). Nationalism is then a protection of that said nation, similar to patriotism (which implies father land, pater being father, mater mother).
You could say Mexico is highly nationalistic, but they are one of the most obese nations in the world. Why? Genetics and what they eat. The US has been importing or allowing many of these people in, their food choices also enter whats available here.
