My dad wished he had a college degree. The most well read& incredibly learned man wished only for a piece of paper to validate his intellectual prowess. Instead he worked two jobs, ran a small business and raised 6 children who all graduated college. He'd feel a fool today.

At the age of 60 after teaching himself Spanish, French, some Italian and Greek (with help) he decided to take up Gaelic. Damn near killed him but he never quit. When his wife of 50 years died, he finally quit. Couldn't wait to get the hell out of here.

My parents had me at a young age and my mom gave up a lot of her dreams to raise me. It definitely had an effect on her psychology and how she viewed me. It’s put a major strain on our relationship that lasts to this day 25 years later.

I love that they put the idea into women's heads that children aren't part of the plan. Lol how progressive.

This quote had a profound effect on me too when I first heard it. For me it wasn’t about my parents, but myself because I became a mother at 22 yrs old. It instantly made focusing on my own personal dreams and goals a much trickier situation, but I am still determined to achieve.

My father was a cup almost empty man, my mother was cup just right woman. Her cup was her children, she passed that onto me. I live for my children and the love and time we share, that's my wealth. My father taught me how to fight, my mother taught me how to love. Balance!

My mom was sick my whole life, died when I was 15. She turned a blind eye to my dad’s infidelity, I think so he would still be around for us kids when she died. Resent her for that sometimes, and I can’t seem to shake the obsession of always expecting infidelity

My mom wanted to go on and get a master's in psychology but developed breast cancer at a young age and passed away. I went on to get my master's in forensic psychology and my brother now does cancer research.
