When I was 14, my fave Dungeons and Dragons character was defeated by a minotaur in the Caves of Chaos. 38 years later, my daughter as Dungeon Master gives me sweet reveeenge! The circle is complete.

That is sad, although Vampire is one game I never did try. There was a card game that was part of that craze(I think) called Jihad? that we did try though

I played V:tM. Hence my @, which can be found at the back of the rule book, although it isn't entirely accurate German. Gotta love that short poem, though. I played a Ventrue neonate in Dallas in a long online campaign, involuntarily fighting back the Sabbat. Good times.

I also bought the extended rule book, and the clan novels for Ventrue, Brujah and Toreador. And I still have an entire bookshelf of V:tM novels. Good times.

When I was in France I noticed V:tM was really big there. The French love action/horror comics and stuff. Board game/ roleplaying game store had lots of V:tM. Kind of funny to see the Ventrue clan book, considering that Ventrue means potbelly in French. It was the creators' joke.

This was back in 1997 and onward. After that MMOs took over. An understandable development, but playing the roleplaying game online was fun. A post could take half an hour to write. It was like writing a novel together.

I transitioned to V:tM because it was the rule base if choice in most of the games on AOL at the time. Always enjoyed the writing part as much as the game. Ended up in a forum called Black Bayou. I would have to call it a V:tM clone, even though we rewrote a lot of rules.

I was a Basic / Expert D&D player. One lasting benefit of the game was learning vocabulary thats was above my grade level. ex: dias , trogledyte, brigands, footpad and so forth
