My mom is 69. She is still being harassed over student loans from 35 years ago, when she went back to get her degree. They are threatening to take it out of her Social Security check. It's f-ing ridiculous.

Her failure to adequately weigh the pros and cons of the "education" and the cost of same, Does not constitute a reason for it to come out of my pocket.

Not saying it should or will. She sends money every month. What bothers me is the threatening letters she gets every few months. She calls them, they say she is fine with her current arrangement and it repeats.

Rather than filing BK. Allow students to sell their degrees back to the university if not gainfully employed after 4 years. STEM majors will be fine. What percentage of Marxist studies majors will force the uni to buy back the degree? 30% 70% ... Maybe higher?

I have always thought the last 10-15yrs that one should only go to college if going for something specific, law, medicine, etc, if bot then trade school, military 4yrs, or just get a job and know what it's like to actually get up early get to a job ontime and work with people.
