Most banks allow extensions for Gov’t employees who can provide proof.

Of course not, why would anyone be given special treatment because their pay was postponed?
-
Actually this is incorrect. The federal worker credit unions and others are indeed offering interest-free loans for the duration of the shutdown.
-
Thanks for saying this

You're welcome. The reason this support is not discussed much on national media is obvious; it tends to de-fang the crisis.

More importantly, we have to wonder why we have those jobs anyway.....need to reduce the federal govt employees by 20%. With unemployment at 3.7%, employers saying they can’t find workers, and 4%+ GDP, former govt employees will find jobs.
-
I agree maybe we the people could save a few tax dollars by getting rid of some unnecessary government jobs

Don't forget pensions. As in nobody else even has one.
-
I work in the private sector and have a pension. I know others that do as well.
-
OK I shouldn't have said "nobody". But according to BLS only 15% of private sector workers participate in a pension plan vs. 74% for government workers. I personally don't know any private workers in a pension plan.

Not true at all. As a Federal employee I make about 2/3rds of what I would make in the private sector as an attorney.

I agree that you should expect more of yourself. Perhaps a philosopher should be able to identify the fallaciousness in his own argument. Good luck

Private sector workers can be fired or laid off at any time, sometimes, even, because their companies can't function. Government workers are not entitled to risk-free employment.
-
Good point. Try being a construction worker always working yourself out of a job. Getting laid off just becomes part of the normal course of events. Ever tried living for months on unemployment. It sucks.
