The people who saved Aristotle from the scrapheap of history and introduced him to Renaissance Europe were Muslims
Christianity was burning people at the stake for most of its existence it was only when it was defanged by SCIENCE, ironically provided in part by the Islamic Empire that it was defanged.
Christians would be burning Atheists and heathens today if they could #atheist
Actually no. The Catholic Church did that which is a classic example of State run religion. Do not mistake Christianity with a political system. Therein is the problem with Islam. Christianity is anti-state.
"Always" is a big word. I think it's not a good one for this context. The Church has a pretty miserable track record of listening to outside advice, with a few shining moments of clarity here and there.
Preaching to the converted. Unfortunately the rest will misunderstand and intentionally misinterpret. You know this, but yet you persist...and for that I congratulate you.
Not only that, but the verses this person is referring to, other than Romans, are outdated. The part where it says, “put to death”, in romans applies to all sin. The price of death is sin, bc we all die anyway. But it is not humans’ job to punish sin. After death God will judge.
youre right, Christianity has the new testament
When I read the New Testament, it reads to me as if it replaces the Old Testament, and Old Testament Law. If that is the case, does sexual preference matter in the eyes of the lord? It seems like the great religions of the world are blind to this. Maybe?
The protestant reformation was based on "the five solas," the first of which being sola scriptura (scripture alone is authoritative). The protestant reformation itself was about reforming BACK to a divine standard (the Bible) against the vain philosophies of men.
To reform is to become what was originally intended. In the case of Christianity, what was intended by God. To apply the term "reform" to "listening to (pagan) philosophers" is absurd.
How did Paul handle the pagan philosophers in Acts 17? He corrected their understanding of what a deity actually is. A God isn't in need of being serviced by man, rather it is man that is dependant upon God. This was Plato and Aristotle's back yard Paul was tearing to pieces.
There are so many different forms of “Christianity” - of course it’s reformable. If a group doesn’t like a biblical truth they simply start their own church. Christ, on the other hand, is not reformable. Christ is who He is.
“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”
Christianity was reformed due to the rise of secular society that was having none of that nonsense. Islam is a younger religion, so it's only now getting to it's 'Dark Ages' phase. . . Let's hope that secular society is still up to the task.
Medieval*. And only reformable in conformity with Scripture
You are seriously mistaken to teach that Christianity is reformable. The church banned the scriptures during 1000 years of dark age - not a very Christian thing to do. Christian is as Christian does. Getting back on track in accordance to scripture ≠ "reforming Christianity".
