If we had a genuine free-market, they would... They used to be called 'rag & bone men'. Before govt statute made it unprofitable.

I work for a glass manufacturer. Recycled glass makes our processes less efficient because it is contaminated, inconsistent and costs more than using freshly mined raw materials.

In some places that’s really how it works. But there is more to it than being economically efficient.
