your dad moved when you were a baby and you only got to visit him twice? so sorry to hear that. A geologist studying rocks didn't know how solid a relationship with his baby is especially during baby years. sad, massive sympathies

it just seems that as a child -in that developmental stage without a permanent father figure- you may have been more susceptible to embracing and internalizing your father's pro-Apartheid worldviews as a means of identification

I would say then that those same people have trouble understanding many complex arguments and the way in which one has to discuss them. Let alone have trouble understanding that disagreement with one statement doesn't mean agreement with its opposite.
