Robots can’t assume debt (yet... but someone’s gotta be working on that). Modern economies are debt-based. Declining population is deflationary mostly for this reason. BUT... stuffing the channels with net recipients of transfer payments is not a viable solution.

Had a chat to my French brother in-law about this. He blames immigration on the government trying to get younger workers contributing to the social welfare of the country due to low birth rates. It backfired and they just take from it instead.

Ok, now people don't have *that* job with which to make an income and work another job to fulfill infinite human needs. As an example, just because we have an automated loom doesn't mean the workers disappear or that they can't perform other work.
