Circumcision is a neolithic practice mean to replace the sacrifice of the firstborns which was in effect during Hebreo- Phoenician times, that is before the Jews became monotheist when they had no yet separated from the Phoenicians. It is extremely cruel and painful.pic.twitter.com/JFhwYqubpk

Must've provided some evolutionary benefit at some point that was greater than the likelihood of dying from the likely infection you'd get.

The benefit, honestly, was it was a proof of loyalty to the tribe. You were willing to risk your child's life to follow the orders of your tribal leaders.

It also psychologically teaches "Might makes right" the idea that they were able to do this because I could not stop them, which is a pretty dangerous thought process there.

I’m sorry, Stefan. Your arguments have degenerated into hyperbole as they generally do regarding this subject. You seem to have passion but little else. Conflating circumcision with wife beating was the last straw.

You're right. It would be more equivalent to slicing off one of her fingertips instead, since bruises and bones can heal whereas circumcision is a complete removal.

Hyperbolic. Conflation. Can this argument be made without those please?

Have you ever watched the circumcision of a newborn? With the sound on and eyes forward? My claim isn't hyperbolic. It's equivalent, except it's on a baby so it's morally much worse. So no, I'm not going to remove the ethical aspect of the argument because that's the point.

Appealing to an emotional response, for me, is unconvincing. What are the long term negative effects of circumcision?
